Linked Urns
A unique series of shapes for the funeral urn that creates a special connection in the family.

When cremated after death, we are packed into impersonal cremation urns. In this project I designed an urn production system with a unique aesthetics for different groups of people. The unique shape of the urn is driven from an infinite animation specified to a certain group.
Each group has its animation which keeps in motion all the time, and by the time one of the members of the group dies, the specific shape of that date data is captured to create a ceramic urn in that shape.
Work Process
The Mold consists of layers of triangles arranged like a camera shutter. The shape of the shutter allows you to resize the hexagon and follow the shape of the perceived animation.
Combinations
The urn shape can vary, with the shape depending on the single triangle profile shape.
